Independent Director

Master Build Services (MBS) Ltd is seeking a director to join its board. Fully owned by the Registered Master Builders Association, MBS provides consumers, through the Master Builder Membership, the 10-year Master Build Guarantee.

The company has a leading market share, is financially sound and is managed and governed in a similar manner to an insurance company, voluntarily complying with many of the financial and regulatory requirements expected of an insurance company.

MBS is seeking an experienced board member with at least five years’ experience serving on commercial boards. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of corporate governance. They will have strong legal experience and while construction-related experience would be an advantage, their experience will be in handling legal issues where regulatory compliance and risk management is at the fore.

Given the nature of MBS business, a well-developed understanding of financial reporting and interpretation is essential, and all board members must be well experienced in risk management.

Board meetings are in person and mainly based in Wellington, but applications are welcomed from around the country.
