Job Description
Our Christchurch based client is one of Canterbury’s leading marine and industrial engineering companies. Creating for their clients a range of plant and structures including steam and hot water boilers, pressure vessels and piping systems, heat exchangers, ducting, material handling systems and lifting equipment. They pride themselves on quality engineering without the stuffy attitudes and red tape!
They design and manufacture boilers and pressure vessels with a comprehensive range of steam and high pressure hot water systems and combustion equipment. Many boilers have been produced for locations all over New Zealand, ranging up to 25MW in size and utilising oil, gas/biogas, biofuels, and coal as fuels.
Join their team at Lyttelton dockside for a full-time, permanent position. The purpose of the role is to provide technical support for commissioning, fault-finding, tuning and upgrades to industrial and marine boiler combustion and "State of the Art” control systems. With regular overnight travel to sites outside of Christchurch, this role is varied and requires a strong technical and analytical ability to provide effective solutions for clients throughout NZ.
Key tasks for the role include:
- Attend breakdowns, carry out fault finding of boiler combustion and control systems.
- Carry out combustion tuning of industrial and marine gas, diesel and solid fuel fired boilers.
- Commissioning of new or upgraded boiler plant.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate, analyse, and report on malfunctions, breakdowns, or failures of mechanical plant components to determine cause and remedy.
- Must be available for regular travel to marine and industrial worksites throughout NZ.
Do you bring?
- Extensive knowledge of working with industrial gas/diesel burners and associated control systems
- A background in maintenance, installation and commissioning work of at least 3 years - ideally with an electrical or mechanical trade or gas-fitting qualification
- Excellent technical and report writing skills along with the ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
What to expect:
- Guaranteed minimum 40hr week (8 hours between 7am - 5 pm Monday to Friday) + overtime available at T1.5 and T2.
- Travel allowances.
- Hourly rate depending on qualifications and experience $43 - $48.
