Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are recruiting for an Intelligence Analyst to support Wellington Districts frontline operations in our busy, world-class intelligence unit.
As an Intelligence Analyst you will help ensure decision makers have the intelligence needed to make Wellington District a safer place. You will be open-minded and lean into the challenges that different analytical problems present. You will use your initiative and critical thinking skills to identify and understand policing problems and apply analytical tools and techniques to develop compelling advice that informs enforcement and prevention. You will be comfortable talking to others to build your understanding of policing and intelligence and work directly with people from a wide range of internal and external workgroups and agencies for mutual benefit. You will present analysis through both written reporting and verbal briefings to a range of audiences.
You must be able to manage the nature of the work we undertake, and the organisational challenges of policing and intelligence. The environment can be fast paced and as such you need to be adaptable.

Key Accountabilities:
- Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends in crime issues.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and apply analytical techniques to interpret information for Intelligence analysis, as well as proposing effective solutions that are suitable for the intended audience.
- Development of a high-quality written reports/presentations and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences.
- Actively and positively contribute to collaborative projects and group analysis.
- Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
- Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external).
- Champion diverse world views, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements
- New Zealand or Australian citizenship, or a permanent NZ resident
- Successful applicants must reside in Wellington
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (or equivalent), or be able to complete NZDIA modules (or equivalent) early in employment
- Hold a full driver licence or be able to complete early in employment
- Able to obtain and maintain an appropriate national security clearance (www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz/eligibility-tool)
Note – a tertiary qualification is not a requirement. However, previous work experience is preferred.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
This role is based in Wellington District Headquarters. Some travel may be required within Wellington District, determined by operational needs.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
