Applications are invited for these exciting opportunities as Lecturer (full-time, continuing) and Teaching Fellow (full-time, fixed-term for 3 years, or could be part-time if preferred) within our Counsellor Education programmes.
The University of Waikato Counsellor Education programmes are known nationally and internationally for their focus on narrative approaches to counselling.
We are looking for dynamic individuals who will bring their excellent practice and research record and a recognised contribution to the counselling profession to contribute to a team dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and postgraduate supervision. As a Lecturer, you will maintain and develop original scholarship and research, and for both roles undertake professional/community/iwi service activities in the Counsellor Education field. You will have the skills and experience to provide leadership and innovation in teaching.
The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate's relevant skills, knowledge, and experience and salary will be in the range of Lecturer from $87,500 to $104,322 per year and Teaching Fellow from $76,904 to $107,931 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the role.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
You will have a quality record of professional experience in counselling and a desire to bring your expertise to our Counsellor Education programme. You might have scholarly achievements or be interested in developing these as a Lecturer. For both positions, demonstrated teaching experience at all levels of study is required.
A relevant Masters degree and professional registration is required along with recent counselling practice and professional supervision experience. It is essential to be a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or other relevant professional organisation.
A PhD in counselling or a relevant discipline is preferred but not required. Undertaking one would be supported for the Lecturer role.
You will have broad and in-depth knowledge of narrative therapy and mediation, social constructionist theory, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and whakaaro Māori, and counselling ethics. The University is committed to Māori and Pacific learner success and it would be strongly desirable to have understanding of bicultural approaches and knowledge of Māori and Pasifika perspectives.
