About the role

The Wellington Logistics Team Leader role is responsible for leading a small Logistics team of six based at our site in Newton, Wellington.

Reporting to the National Supply Chain Manager, there are two key remits that fall under this role:

The first is the management of the local dispatch operations out of our Wellington base. Leading daily operational activity in relation to the transportation and distribution of blood products - essentially ensuring the right products are available at the right place, at the right time. Managing the movement of stock, overseeing delivery schedules, working closely with other teams and building strong relationships with customers. This will require outstanding communication, organisation and leadership skills. Exposure to and understanding of dispatch/distribution operations will be crucial to this side of the role.

On the other end of the spectrum to dispatch, the second remit involves management of the inwards goods warehouse function. Working in a complex multi temperature and highly regulated environment you will be responsible for quality control inspection of inbound goods, stock control processes and provide effective stores management of fast moving consumables used in all departments. This will again require outstanding communication, organisation and leadership skills.

About you

You'll excel in the following areas;

  • Team Leadership - managing a tight knit team working in each of the two functions, inspiring a culture of accountability and fairness
  • Communication and interpersonal skills - liaising and collaborating with a number of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Relationship management and service delivery - being a key liaison point and a frontline representative of the Service
  • Decision making, problem solving and analysis - leading with confidence and accuracy in a fast-paced, critical environment
  • Quality, compliance and continuous improvement - highly regulated field where efficiency, accuracy, Health & Safety and compliance are non-negotiable.
  • Hands-on and pragmatic - being able to dive into the daily operational business and find pragmatic solutions to operational challenges

If you feel you tick the boxes and want to make a true difference to the lives of other New Zealanders through your work, then make sure to apply!

Please note that we are only able to appoint candidates who hold a legal entitlement to work in NZ and current clean Driver's License.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
