We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to assist the Business Accounting Team deliver on their full work programme.

If you like a busy and challenging role that will expose you to the end-to-end financial management cycle and give you the opportunity to establish yourself in a position of influence, this could be the role for you. You will be given opportunities to work in a “round table” style while tackling strategic work including contributing to budget bids, writing and contributing to Ministerial and Cabinet briefings, contributing to a fees review, and providing strategic financial advice to Leader teams.
You will be joining a highly engaged team who work collaboratively and cohesively to continuously lift performance across the business. The business and the structure of this business unit itself allows you plenty of room to further develop your skills and have a degree of autonomy in your work. In joining our team you'll need a positive and proactive approach, an understanding of the machinery of government and will be someone who enjoys solving complex business problems – ideally, we'd like to hear examples of your experience in doing this within your application!
The ideal candidate should be a CA member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent and ideally have previous experience operating as a management accountant in a fast-paced working environment and a strong interest in applying and further expanding on your skills in a government environment.

- Ability to develop and maintain relationships to enable delivery of trusted advice and analysis,
- Previous experience in Management Accounting positions,
- Business planning and budgeting process knowledge,
- Business cases, procurement processes and budget bid knowledge,
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives,
- Knowledge of Public Sector finance and the machinery of government.

The annual salary range for this role is between $89,000 - $115,000 depending on skills and experience
