Are you an experienced leader looking for an exciting opportunity? Join the Finance Group at the Department of Internal Affairs Te Tari Taiwhenua (Te Tari) as our new Manager of Portfolio Management.

In this role, you will report to the Director of Strategic Finance and Planning and lead a dynamic team responsible for overseeing Te Tari project and investment portfolios. You will be responsible for ensuring strategic alignment with our organisational goals while maximising return on investment. You will leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and resource allocation, enabling effective project planning and delivery.

You will also drive the development and implementation of portfolio management processes and capabilities, ensuring our project management standards and practices align with best practices and comply with Cabinet and Treasury directives.

  • To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Proven experience in delivering project management services across diverse complexities and scales
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships, collaborate, and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Capability to engage strategically with leadership teams, governance committees, and The Treasury
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or extensive comparable experience
  • A project management qualification and membership in the Project Management Institute (desirable)
  • Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
