Salary range: $132,247 to $177,511 depending on skills and experience.

Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role

The Manager Strategic Planning & Performance is a brand-new position within Agriculture & Investment Services (AIS). This role will provide you the opportunity to build a team that will lift the performance and strategic direction of the Compliance & Response directorate, through development and building capability.  

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

• Manage staff, support professional development, and foster a collaborative team environment
• Provide thought leadership on strategy and planning approaches, working alongside our AIS Leadership Team
• Support Compliance & Response to align and integrate strategic plans into measurable annual work programmes
• Provide a centre of excellence for improvement and professional development in strategy and planning
• Implement appropriate engagement strategies that build and sustain effective relationships
• Manage the collection and analysis of performance information, compliance data and insights. This will include reporting for the directorate and senior leadership.
• Participate in responses and support others to participate in response as required.

To be successful in this role you will need: 

• Extensive experience in a relevant technical/regulatory position
• Substantial experience managing collaborative and high-performing teams
• Experience in analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact.
• Aptitude for building credible and effective relationships with stakeholders with diverse skill sets and information requirements
• A strong track record of developing strategic plans and achieving them in collaboration with others
• Experience in strategy development, business planning, system design, investment prioritisation, or programme/project management

The Agriculture and Investment Services business unit works to create a thriving and sustainable future for farmers, growers, primary industries and rural communities, and cares for the health and wellbeing of animals.

Agriculture & Investment Services is also responsible for the operational delivery of compliance services associated with animals via our animal welfare inspectors, and National Animal Identification and Tracing staff.

We have staff who work regionally, and with farmers and growers. We help people access a range of information, expertise and funds that can build sustainability and value in their business. We also support community resilience, including response and recovery after significant adverse events.

Low level Security Clearance

• most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
• is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
