The Intelligence Community Shared Services support the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te Pā Whakamarumaru in the achievement of individual and joint agency strategic and operational outcomes.

The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager with strategy experience to lead our next phase of strategy work. The Manager Strategy plays a key role in the development and implementation of NZSIS and GCSB strategy, contributing to strategic alignment across the agencies.

A skilled communicator, the Manager Strategy engages effectively with a range of stakeholders, bringing a future-focussed perspective to guide strategic decision making.

Who we're looking for

You will bring system thinking, the ability to see the big picture and excellent communication skills.  You are open to feedback, prepared to listen to alternative viewpoints with the ability to gain credibility with Senior Leadership teams.

You will also bring:

  • Proven experience leading and maintaining highly performing teams and delivering results through others.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Interviews will be held in February 2025.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
