Mō te tūnga | About the role
The National Criminal Investigations Group (NCIG) is responsible for providing specialist covert technical surveillance capabilities to primarily support serious crime (homicides) and organised crime (drugs & gangs) investigations across all Police districts.
The NCIG are looking for a Manger Systems to lead our team of Senior Infrastructure Support Engineers in our Wellington Office.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your network, systems administrator and leadership skills to support the deployment of covert surveillance devices to listen to, track or observe activity.
This role will offer you the chance to work in a key growth area and be exposed to technologies and concepts that few other organisations can offer. Working in an innovative, collaborative and close-knit team, you will be able to develop your infrastructure architect skills to design and implement projects whilst providing support to users. Your passion for IT Infrastructure will match your desire to help make NZ the safest country in the world.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the team to build, maintain and administer TOG networks, equipment and applications
- Demonstrates innovation and initiative including competency to identify and/or develop bespoke solutions to overcome challenges
- Advise and support TOG system evaluations from primary stages to allocate IT resourcing and assess suitability for TOG environment.
- Provide advice and guidance to TOG staff on infrastructure capability and use.
- Experience in Cybersecurity and security vulnerability identification
- Coordinate procurement of TOG IT resources and infrastructure.
- Demonstrate innovation and initiative including competency to identify and / or develop bespoke solutions to overcome challenges.
- Contributes to a healthy team environment and culture through the modelling of positive personal behaviors aligned with Our Business, Police core values, and the Police High Performing Framework

Specifically, you will:
- Have a broad range of knowledge and experience relating to computer hardware, software and network technologies.
- Experience managing and administering Windows Server (2012-2022), VMware and Virtualisation technologies, Firewall and Cybersecurity concepts, Windows 10, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
- Linux administration experience would be beneficial but not essential.
- Be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, research, and communication skills.
- Pay attention to detail and have the flexibility to cope with change.
- Have the ability to rapidly absorb, understand and apply new concepts and technologies.
- Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
- Possess a collaborative and participatory leadership style that encourages joint working practice, information sharing and innovation.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110,425 and $117,014 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
