The role:

This role is designed to facilitate, maintain and embed Māori Data Governance principles across Tāhū Hauora, HQSC workstreams, ensuring that data practices honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, advance equity, and align with Māori data sovereignty aspirations. You will lead efforts to support implementation of Māori Data Governance principles across the government sector and drive systemic change that prioritises tikanga Māori and improves health outcomes for Māori whānau, hapū, and iwi. Additionally, you will provide advice and guidance on the integration of Māori Data Governance across the organisation and support other initiatives as required by the organisation or team

About you:

This role requires you to have:

  • Expertise in Māori health and data governance principles. 
  • Proven experience working with Māori communities, embedding cultural frameworks and leading system-level changes in data governance and/or health equity. 
  • A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare and governance is essential. 
  • A strong understanding of best practice of Māori data collection, collation and analysis.
