About New Zealand Blood and Organ Service
New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) has sole responsibility for collecting, processing, and distributing blood in New Zealand. Our specialist services also extend to the provision of testing for Solid Organ and Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplantation, Cellular therapies, and tissue banking such as the provision of stem cell products along with cardiovascular, skin and bone allografts. About the Role
Being part of our ASHI and IANZ accredited Transplantation and Immunogenetics Laboratory in Auckland means that you will be at the forefront of transplantation testing in New Zealand. You will join a team of knowledgeable scientists who are dedicated to the delivery of high-quality patient services, within an organisation that values its people.
You will gain experience in advanced molecular and cellular techniques, including HLA typing, crossmatching, and antibody screening. You will also have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to improving transplantation outcomes.
The field of transplantation testing for Solid Organ and Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplantation is evolving in NZ and this is a great opportunity to be part of the team taking this to the next level/leading the change/creating opportunity for innovative diagnostic solutions and personalized patient care. Your base salary will be between $71,070 to $107,600 depending on skills, experience and registration.
About you
To be successful in working in this laboratory, you will be an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientists and thrive in a regulatory environment and exhibit a proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. You will also have a positive attitude, be friendly and work well as part of a team. Although primarily working day shifts, due to the nature of the work, flexibility to fully participate in our rotational roster that includes on-call work is essential.
Key Qualifications and attributes
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
- Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ
- Ability to show initiative and work well as part of a team
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and patient care
- Enthusiasm for continuous improvement
- Proficient in using windows applications and various software platforms.
Desirable experience
- A background in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics would be an advantage
- A strong background in working within a regulatory framework.
