Medical Officer

Location: Atafu Atoll, Tokelau

Primary Purpose: To provide effective and efficient medical care for the residents of Atafu,and be able to assist on other atolls of Tokelau when the need arises.

 Selection criteria:

• Minimum of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualification from a recognized academic institution.
• Have completed medical internship program with a valid practicing certificate/registration to practice medicine.
• Have done additional clinical training, with the willingness to continuously expand medical knowledge to keep abreast with the latest medical advancements and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience and skills in responding to health emergencies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in patient care and community health in relaying medical information to patients and their health conditions.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge to use data effectively to:

1.  inform health policies and guidelines
2. Collaborate with the department of health, other sectors and community, to plan and implement appropriate programmes that improves the health and wellbeing of individuals and community

• Effective supervision, leadership skills and approach in motivating staff.
• Keenness to live and work in Tokelau.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they meet selection requirements for the relevant position. Salary for both positions will be determined in line with the Tokelau Public Service Remuneration Framework 2024.
