About the Role
The Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS) based at MidCentral provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and clinical haematology services to the MidCentral, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Whanganui, and Taranaki Districts.
We have a brand new cancer treatment facility opening later this year and are seeking to appoint a Medical Oncologist for the Regional Cancer Treatment Service based in the Taranaki region. Hours can be negotiated with the right candidate!
Our RCTS provides systemic therapy with facilities for inpatient care in Palmerston North and outpatient treatment in Palmerston North, Hawkes Bay and Taranaki. We currently have a team based in Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay and we are keen to grow our service across the region. There is the opportunity to develop tumour focused practice, with collegial support managing a range of solid tumours.
The department maintains an active clinical research portfolio, and possibilities exist for linkages with Massey University for pre-clinical research. You will support a multi-disciplinary team specialising in cancer, supporting Multi-Disciplinary Meetings and provide clinicians with advice on the management of the patient with cancer in the inpatient setting.
About you
Applicants for this position must be Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Medical Oncology or equivalent and hold, or be eligible for, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Applicants must also have demonstrated clinical skills and the ability to work effectively within our multi-disciplinary teams.
