Whangārei is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services for the region, supported by four regional hospitals. Due to the population make up and the unselected nature of our admissions, our Registrars gain experience managing a wide variety of conditions including rarer conditions such as rheumatic fever, tuberculosis and meningococcal disease.
We are looking for Medical Registrars to join our dedicated Haematology/Oncology team. Working from our unit, the Jim Carney Cancer Centre, this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic expanding service. The centre is primarily an outpatient service offering day stay chemotherapy with the Registrar assisting the acute medical team with management of patients on treatment requiring admission. Working closely with the Haematologists and Oncologists means you can widen your practice as your skills grow. You will also contribute to the General Medicine after hours medical roster.
There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and videoconferencing of RACP lectures. Northland is accredited for 24 months basic physician training.
