About the Role
This is an opportunity to progress your nursing leadership in a role that combines strategic influence, operation oversight, and transformational impact to nursing operations, quality improvement and patient safety in partnership with services nursing leadership and district health quality and patient safety service. Reporting to the District Chief Nurse, the role leads key portfolios including the Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) programme, TrendCare, nursing informatics, and Infection Prevention & Control. Operating both a strategic and operational level, you will champion safe staffing, quality improvement, and culturally responsive care – aligning nursing performance with the goals of Pae Ora and Toi Ora.
Your leadership will extend beyond systems and frameworks. You will be a trusted advisor to the District Chief Nurse, a leader to frontline teams, and a vital force in achieving equitable, timely, and effective care for our communities.

About you
We seek an experienced senior nurse with vision, clarity, and mana – someone who brings people with you and leads with both strategy and heart. With deep clinical insight and a drive for continuous improvement, you know how to influence outcomes at scale and support others to thrive.
What you will bring to the role:
- Registered Nurse with current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Senior leadership experience within a large, complex health care environment.
- Expertise in CCDM, TrendCare, safe staffing, and nursing informatics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality, safety, and performance initiatives.
- Proven experience building and guiding diverse nursing teams.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
