About the Role

The Occupational Therapist working within the acute services plays a vital role in providing specialist occupational therapy services to patients who are experiencing a range of medical conditions, such as respiratory diseases, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, infections, other chronic or acute health conditions, and those undergoing cancer treatment who may also have palliative care needs. This role is integral in supporting patients to maintain function, independence, and quality of life while managing complex medical conditions, including cancer.

The Occupational Therapist's role and primary responsibility is to assess and enhance patients' functional abilities, helping them to regain independence in daily activities where possible and improve their overall quality of life during their hospital stay and post-discharge. The Occupational Therapist works as part of multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that care is patient-centred and tailored to individual needs.

About you

As an Occupational Therapist, you will bring:
• A recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a patient-centered approach to care.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and culturally responsive practice.
