About the role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in helping patients maximise their functional independence. You will work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored rehabilitation services and support patients through their healthcare journey.

The working hours are between 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday with no weekend on-call.

About you:

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Conducting thorough assessments to determine patients' needs and creating individualized treatment plans.
  • Delivering therapy and interventions to improve patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities.
  • Educating patients and their families on strategies for enhancing daily living activities and promoting overall well-being.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure cohesive, comprehensive care.
  • Keeping accurate records and tracking patients - progress throughout their treatment journey.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, apart from holding NZ registration in Occupational Therapy and a current practising certificate, you should

  • Have a strong foundation in occupational therapy practices, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
  • Have Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
  • Have ability to work independently in a small team with a commitment to provide high standards of patient care.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be competent with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Have experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
