About the Role
The Occupational Therapist working within the acute services in the hospital plays an essential role in the care and rehabilitation of patients recovering from various types of surgeries. These may include elective procedures (e.g., joint replacements, gastrointestinal surgeries) or emergency surgeries (e.g., trauma, appendectomies). The Occupational Therapist focuses on helping patients regain independence in their daily activities, manage pain, and adjust to physical changes post-surgery, while working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.

About you
As an Occupational Therapist, you will bring:
• A recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a patient-centered approach to care.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and culturally responsive practice.
