Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are excited to offer the opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist with a passion in respiratory to join our Outpatient Allied Health Team. 

We are looking for the right physiotherapist to continue to develop a service that meets the needs of the community we serve. One aspect of this role is facilitating the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service with the dedicated Pulmonary Rehabilitation Nurse. Our goals for this service are to deliver a culturally responsive programme that is effective and fun whilst also working towards equitable health outcomes. The other aspect of this role is respiratory outpatient clinics. This caseload is predominantly adults with respiratory issues and can involve a range of clinical presentations, some with complex health conditions. Our goals for this aspect of the role are to provide a service that patients and their whānau find accessible and agile to their needs. 

This role will also link in with the acute physiotherapists and musculoskeletal physiotherapists, maintaining a close working relationship for the benefit of our patients, collegial support, clinical mentorship and networking. We offer on-going professional development opportunities including a well-established in-service programme, targeted team training and formal supervision.

This role is 0.5 FTE / 20 hours per week and provides services at both Kenepuru Hospital and Wellington Regional Hospital though may cover Kāpiti Health Centre if required.

This role sits in the newly formed Allied Health Outpatient Team which includes podiatrists, specialist physiotherapists, social workers and dietitians that are spread across 3 sites: Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital and Hutt Hospital. We are a diverse and inclusive team who provide a service to patients and their whānau across predominantly outpatient but also inpatient and community settings.

As the successful candidate you will have a passion for working in this area and be highly motivated to support patients and whānau navigate their health journey.  Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs the post holder will require excellent documentation, communication and time management skills.

Ideally we are looking for a physiotherapist who has: 

  • Experience working with patients with respiratory issues
  • NZ Registered Physiotherapist with current annual practicing certificate
  • Minimum of 1 year physiotherapist practice, though will consider those with less experience
  • Passion for equitable healthcare access and outcomes
  • Appetite for developing services by considering evidence based practice whilst also reviewing assessment, treatment and outcome measures through a cultural lens
