  • 12 months fixed-term, part-time position available at Nelson Hospital
  • 0.9FTE (72 hours a fortnight)
  • This provides a fantastic opportunity to gain hospital pharmacy experience while working alongside experienced pharmacists in a collaborative and learning-focused environment.

About the Role

This role offers hands-on experience in a supportive clinical environment, allowing you to develop your skills while contributing to high-quality patient centred care.

As a Pharmacy Intern, you are responsible for:

  • Assisting in dispensing and supply of medications under supervision
  • Supporting medication reconciliation and review processes
  • Providing medicines information to healthcare professionals and patients
  • Learning about clinical pharmacy services, including medication safety and optimization
  • Assisting with stock management, procurement, and safe medication storage
  •  Engaging in multidisciplinary teamwork to enhance patient outcomes
  • Potential travel to Wairau Hospital for additional support if required

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and intern who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. We work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes. About you

To be considered for this position you must be:

  • A pharmacy intern currently completing or eligible for internship registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
  • Enthusiasm for hospital pharmacy and a strong commitment to learning
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety
