Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, history, law, or other related field is essential
  • Ability to help set strategy for the Policy function and drive the delivery of high-quality policy advice and results
  • Willingness to travel within Aotearoa to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Demonstrated people management experience in leading high performing teams
  • A policy background demonstrating well-developed analytical, strategic, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand State Sector and the machinery of government
  • Experience in a position requiring political awareness and the ability to maintain a balanced perspective where there is a high degree of ambiguity, political sensitivity, and disparity of views among stakeholders
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
