Job Title: Principal Adviser - Strategic Planning and Performance

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

Join MPI's Chief Transformation Officer to support the delivery of MPI's strategic plan to enhance the prosperity, sustainability, protection and visible leadership across New Zealand's food and fibre sector.

You will support the performance management of key initiatives to reach our strategic priorities and be responsible for collating high level reporting to MPI Senior Leadership, Ministers, and key stakeholders.

A day in the life of a Principal Adviser will look like:

  • Building collaborative working partnerships across the organisation, particularly with other planning and performance teams across MPI.
  • Developing and implementing new reporting frameworks and continuous improvement.
  • Tracking and monitoring the financial and non-financial performance of strategic initiatives and programmes.
  • Supporting capabilities across MPI to be outcomes-focused.
  • Providing project management best practice.

 

About You - Mōu

Responsibilities of this position are expected to change over time and as the Principal Adviser, you will need to be agile and pragmatic. You will work alongside some of MPI's most valued subject matter experts in a variety of disciplines and use their insights to develop reporting and updates for our senior leadership teams, Ministers, and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring an engaging attitude with the ability to promote and support the development of organisational agility to respond to strategic imperatives.

You will have experience with:

  • Constructively facilitating teams to design, deliver, and continuously improve programmes of work.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, expertise, motivation for best practice planning processes
  • Power BI and Microsoft Office knowledge at an advanced level
  • Writing clearly and succinctly for a variety of audiences, focusing on supporting decision making
  • Putting the needs of others first, coaching others and building a positive and constructive culture.

 

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

You will be working in a small team with the Chief Transformation Officer, and interacting closely across MPI with other teams. This role directly supports MPI's strategic direction and purpose.

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
