We have an opportunity in the Government Relations and Advisory team for an experienced Principal Advisor.

This is not your typical Principal Advisor role. This role is about being a thought leader to influence system change where there are specific needs or opportunities for Ethnic Communities.

• Would you thrive on collaborating with various agencies to influence the policy design and service delivery, and improve intercultural capability?
• Are you excited about leading the development of tools and resources, to lift system capability?
• Do you enjoy working across a range of areas, proactively identifying problems and opportunities and designing creative and innovative solutions?
• Are you passionate about coaching and developing junior colleagues?

If yes, then we need you.

To be successful in this role you will need experience and skills in:

• maintaining a strategic overview of government objectives and global trends
• anticipating the needs of the Minister and Ministry
• building and leveraging great networks, and excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
• being agile, innovative, and responsive to changes in priorities
• conducting fit-for-purpose analysis, synthesising information from various sources, and using expert knowledge and sound judgment to draw conclusions and provide advice, often within short timeframes
• building capability of junior colleagues.

It would be great if you also had a good understanding of economics.

The Ministry for Ethnic Communities is the Government's chief advisor on ethnic communities, ethnic diversity, and the inclusion of ethnic communities in wider society. We have four key functions:
