Product Owner 

  • x1 Permanent, fulltime position available! 
  • Role will be based at National Office, Te Whanganui a Tara/Wellington 
  • We're offering a competitive salary starting from $125,926 to $139,459, depending on experience 

 

Mō te tūnga | About the role 

As a member of the Strategy, Insights, and Performance team, you will part of leading efforts to advance data, insights, and performance strategies essential for informed decision-making and organisational success.  

Join our team as a Product Owner and play a key role in driving value through our data-related  initiatives. You'll lead the product vision and strategy, collaborate with stakeholders to identify clear requirements, and ensure alignment with our broader organisational objectives.  

As a critical team member you will run agile ceremonies to support the planning and monitoring of product development during sprints, and managing the backlog of requirements from the business. 

Your efforts will facilitate the delivery of high-quality products, supporting frontline Social Work Services and boosting our overall performance. If you're passionate about turning strategic vision into impactful results and enhancing organisational effectiveness, we want you on our team! 

Some key aspects of the role include: 

  • Leading and communicating the vision  of data related products 
  • Aligning the product strategy with our goals and values, ensuring it meets the needs of all relevant stakeholders. 
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders and team members to identify clear requirements for the product and the different roles required for successful product delivery. 
  • Prioritise requirements and tasks throughout product development, considering capacity, resource constraints and timelines. 
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations and emerging technologies that could impact product performance or compliance. 

 

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring 

Key requirements of the role include:  

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar field is highly desirable 
  • Experience in product ownership or management, with involvement from design to implementation phases 
  • Excellent relationship management skills to work with a diverse range of stakeholders from social workers through to DCEs 
  • Thorough understanding of standard technology, software development and other relevant tools, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, etc.  
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards, regulations and laws and how they impact the product 
  • Experience in balancing and priortising different needs in a complex and tie pressured environment. 
  • Competent in planningand monitoring tasks through tools like Jira and Confluence 
  • Agile methodology skills are highly desirable  
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
