Mō te Tari o te Kaitiaki Mana Tangata – About the Ombudsman

The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

Mō tō mātou tira – About the team

The Systemic Improvement Monitoring and Resolution (SIMR) team provides advice on identified trends and opportunities for systemic improvement via internal and external monitoring. The team develops and maintains robust systems to identify issues, assess options for intervention, and seek resolution where possible to contribute to meaningful change in public sector administration. 

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for someone who is reliable and organised with great communication skills and who thrives in a collegial team environment to help setup a new system. You will have an analytical brain, be a great planner, with attention to detail and experience working with word, excel and data entry.

You will bring your experience in programme and/or project administration, planning and coordination roles. Your coordination and administration skills will be second to none.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in a similar administration and programme coordination role
  • Superior planning and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively across multiple pieces of work and activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a willingness to contribute to a constructive, positive team environment
  • High level of integrity and discretion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office Excel skills

Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $59,163 to $77,651, with $73,954 being the mid-point.
