Job Description

Ko wai mātou | The Organisation
We are partnering with a small, agile government agency with a critical public mandate. With a tight-knit and purpose-driven team, they’re committed to operational excellence, and they’re about to launch a key piece of work to uplift their internal capability.

To support this mahi, they’re bringing in additional resource to lead a refresh of their induction and operational training programmes—a project that will make a lasting impact on how people come into and thrive in the organisation.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is a full-time, fixed-term position (6–12 months) for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Learning & Development or Organisational Development. You’ll take ownership of a full project lifecycle—from gap analysis and roadmap creation through to content development, delivery, and rollout.

The successful person will work alongside a cross-agency project team made up of both operational and non-operational subject matter experts. You’ll be hands-on with everything from identifying improvements in induction modules to developing and delivering engaging, system-ready training content. Once rolled out, you’ll remain involved to ensure the solution lands well and is operating smoothly.

Mōu | About You
You’re an experienced project professional who thrives in environments where you can own the delivery end-to-end. You’re equally strong with people and process, with the confidence to facilitate, plan, build, and implement solutions that stick. You take a practical, structured approach to work while being adaptable and collaborative.

You’ll also be technically confident—this programme will become part of the organisation’s system-based knowledge base, so being comfortable working in digital environments is essential.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience delivering L&D or OD projects, particularly in capability, onboarding, or internal training
  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end project delivery, including planning, facilitation, content development, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working with SME groups across disciplines and levels
  • Confidence developing system-generated training content
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Public sector experience is a bonus—but not essential
