Job Description

Our client based in the vibrant coastal town of Oamaru, is an electricity distribution and energy services business.

They power the local economy, delivering electricity to over 13,000 customers in North Otago and parts of South Canterbury, and providing innovative energy solutions. They also have a growing contracting business offering network construction and maintenance services across New Zealand.

We are in the pursuit for a Project Manager to assist in managing contracting and operations projects, ensuring top health and safety performance, maximizing productivity, and meeting strategic goals.

The role may occasionally require after-hours and emergency responses and short-term work outside the Waitaki region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Lead safety initiatives, ensuring compliance and risk control.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance, foster a positive culture, and develop team skills.
  • Work Planning and Management: Plan project activities, manage contractors, monitor performance, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure work meets standards, participate in reviews, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Skills Required

  • Leadership and Safety: Demonstrable leadership in safety and productivity.
  • Project and Customer Relationship Management: Effective management of projects and customer relationships, ensuring all work is completed on time, to specification, and without the need for rework.
  • Positive Work Culture: Contribution to a positive work culture.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service with no negative feedback.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Understanding of overhead and underground distribution systems.
    • Experience with substation equipment (preferred).
    • Practical understanding of construction and engineering techniques.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management and Leadership:
    • Project management, leadership, or supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of NZS3910:2023 conditions of contracts.
    • Tertiary qualification in Project Management (preferred).
