Salary Range, GSR E/D: $85,302 - $132,427 depending on skills and experience
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
On Farm Support: Supporting farmers and growers to continue to be successful in a changing world.
On Farm Support is a free service provided by MPI for farmers and growers. We help our customers access support, information, and advice that they need to continue to be successful in a world with rapidly changing requirements.
On Farm Support connects to the work already undertaken by MPI, the private sector, and industry organisations, to provide streamlined support and build sustainability practices by:
- Helping farmers and growers access practical advice through streamlined, accessible farm advisory and extension services.
- Providing workshops, training, and resources to promote best practices and encourage the adoption of innovative approaches across the agricultural sector.
- Supporting farmer-led catchment groups to address priorities specific to each catchment area and promote sustainable practices.
- Assisting farmers and growers in building resilience and preparing for adverse events, such as floods and droughts, through proactive on-the-ground support.
- Facilitating connections between farmers, scientists, and industry to ensure that the latest research and innovations are accessible and practically applied on farms.
You will be based in our Nelson office and will have access to a work vehicle.
Mōu - About You
You will be a good listener who is open to new perspectives. You'll have the ability to understand the different needs and challenges that farmers and growers are faced with in the regions.
You will have:
- Broad experience in the primary sector and NZ farming systems.
- Ability to identify and develop effective working relationships with people from all parts of an organisation and community.
- Understanding of rural communities, their issues and opportunities.
- Problem solver with the ability to attend to detail.
- Knowledge and experience with best practice adult learning including facilitating learning sessions.
- Influencing skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
