About the Role

We are in search of an experienced Regional Quality and Patient Safety Lead to work within the Central Region. The Regional Quality and Patient Safety Lead is responsible for supporting all Quality and Patient Safety systems and processes at the regional level. Reporting directly to the Regional Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) and taking direction from the National Chief, Quality and Patient Safety you will work to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care to achieve Health New Zealand goals. You will be responsible for ensuring that Quality and Patient Safety are at the forefront of all care delivered by Health New Zealand in the region.

As a member of the Regional Senior Leadership team, you will assist in formulating and supporting Health New Zealand's future direction while ensuring quality of care and patient safety in the region along with the Regional Clinical Board and other leadership groups. 

About the Team/Service/ Location

In partnership with the National Clinical Leadership team, Hospital and Specialist Services, and Commissioning this role would be collectively accountable for ensuring the quality, safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness of overall clinical service provision in the region.

About you

You are a highly experienced leader with a proven track record in guiding initiatives within the healthcare sector. With a deep understanding of clinical governance and the principles of healthcare quality, you bring a wealth of knowledge to the space and excel at building and maintaining positive working relationships, creating a collaborative environment. 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the health sector in Quality and Patient Safety.
  • A relevant health qualification and clinical experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand Health Legislation.
  • Understanding of risk management.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
