We have openings at Arohata Prison for nurses who can demonstrate recent clinical experience in either primary or secondary health care nursing, along with a diverse range of post-graduate clinical exposure. Successful candidates will have the ability to assess and respond effectively to emergency situations and possess a strong motivation to continue learning and advancing professionally. A non-judgmental approach is essential, and experience in triage is considered desirable for these roles. If you meet these criteria, and if you have registration with the Nursing Council New Zealand, we encourage you to apply and join our team, contributing to the healthcare environment at Arohata Prison.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The full salary range is $75,773 – 106,739 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.

Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections) Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tangata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction, places the focus on health at the heart of our business. Building our frameworks from a Mātauranga Māori basis is our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.
