We have an exciting opportunity available for a skilled registered nurse to join our dynamic CT scanning team at Waikato Hospital.
AS New Zealand’s largest tertiary hospital, Waikato Hospital provides a unique and rewarding environment for health care professionals. We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly, dedicated team. Radiology nursing is fast-paced, evolving, and full of critical moments. No two days are ever the same.
In this role you will be working closely with radiologist and other Medical Imaging Technologist, providing expert care to patients before, during and after various radiographic procedures in CT. This includes CT colongraphies, enterographies and CT cardiac angiograms. Your contribution will be essential to ensuring the best possible patient outcomes in a high tech, clinical setting
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Providing care to patients before, during and after a radiological procedure in CT, including CT scans of different body areas, CT colonographies, enterographies and CT Cardiac angiograms
- Working closely with the radiologists and MIT’s
- Inserting intravenous cannulas or accessing CVADs to inject iodine contrast and medications to patients
- Observing and monitoring inpatients and checking their intravenous cannulas prior to receiving iodine contrast
- Identifying unexpected reactions in patients during procedures
- Helping in patient transfers on and off the CT bed
- Responds appropriately in an emergency situation and ensure emergency equipment is maintained in top condition

Mōu | About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
- Registered nurse with a current practising certificate
- Previous Experience in Radiology/Surgical/Procedural Nursing would be an advantage
- Intravenous cannulation skills
- Competence in accessing CVAD’s
- Ultrasound cannulation skills is preferred but not essential
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
