  • Waikato Hospital – Delivery Suite & Women’s Assessment Unit
  • Rostered shifts Monday to Sunday, including public holidays, possibility of choice between 8 and 12hr shifts
  • Fixed term until May 2026

About the Role

The position would be predominantly based in the birthing suite, birthing suite HDU and Women’s Assessment Unit (Maternity ED). You may however also work in other areas in the Women’s Health Service such as in the gynaecology ward, postnatal ward, and Women’s Health Clinics. While this is a challenging environment, it is equally very rewarding, and you will be part of a dedicated and supportive team.


You will be expected to provide care for both antenatal and postnatal women – this also includes termination of pregnancy services. More information on this can be found in the amendments to the contraception, sterilisation and abortion Act.



About you

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
  • Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Have completed a NETP programme or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the NZ health setting.
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to effectively coordinate you own workload and adjust to changing priorities.
  • The desire to provide excellence in care within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be available to work a rotating roster across all days/shifts.
