Where you’ll be working: Waikato Hospital – Delivery Suite & Women’s Assessment Unit

The details: Fixed Term – 80 hours per fortnight – 1 FTE



Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Registered Nurse to cover a fixed term position which is due to end on 1 February 2026.


Are you an empathetic, non-judgmental registered nurse keen to make a difference? Do you have a passion for working with women, babies and their whanau?



Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Promote excellence in clinical practice and ensure provision of high-quality maternity care to patients and their whanau including neonates.
  • Escalate issues as required and ensure workflow processes maximise clinical safety.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, whilst using excellent communication ensure patient safety and ongoing care
  • Take part in ward improvement and safety initiatives.
  •  Promotes Turanga Kaupapa in all aspects of midwifery including enabling a culturally safe maternity environment.

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service

The position would be predominantly based in the birthing suite, birthing suite HDU and Women’s Assessment Unit – Maternity ED. You will however also work in other areas in the Women’s Health Service such as in the gynaecology ward, postnatal ward, and Women’s Health Clinics. While this is a challenging environment, it is equally very rewarding, and you will be part of a dedicated and supportive team.



Mōu | About you

  • Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Have completed a NETP programme or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the NZ health setting
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to effectively coordinate you own workload and adjust to changing priorities
  • The desire to provide excellence in care within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be available to work a rotating roster across all days/shifts
