About the Role

We have an opportunity available to join our friendly and supportive Community Clinical Services team in our Northern region in a permanent, full-time role as a Registered Nurse – Immunisation Outreach.

This primary purpose of this role is to provide care within the scope of Registered Nurse for identified children/Tamariki and their whanau. You will work to increase immunisation coverage and reduce the impact of vaccine-preventable disease. Be accountable for ensuring that all health services you provide are consistent with your education and assessed competence, meet legislative requirements and are supported by appropriate standards

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

About you

You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels, enhancing the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to achieve the organisations vision and goals. Our work can be challenging but is also very rewarding. This role will suit a flexible Registered Nurse who is able to work independently and as part of a team, enjoy variety and the challenge of providing care to clients in the community. Some travel around the region will be required at times.

Skills and Experience

  • Registration with New Zealand Nursing Council and current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Previous experience providing health care within the community setting is desirable
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Current Authorised Vaccinator with experience in the outreach setting
  • A current Competent Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) or equivalent desirable
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings desired
