  • 1.0 FTE permanent position available with the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) team
  • Should have the ability to work Monday to Friday between 08:00 - 16:30 hrs (roster to be based on IPC Service needs in negotiation with successful applicant)

Te Ratonga Ārai Mate - Infection Prevention and Control Service is currently recruiting for Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team with a lot of interesting professional opportunities for the right candidate.

In this role, you would provide advice on infection prevention and control measures to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors to Te Tai o Poutini and Waitaha facilities as a member of the transalpine IPC Service. You will guide and support staff in clinical areas, laboratories and maintenance and engineering to implement appropriate IPC practices in their work areas to minimise risk of infection transmission.

You will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and expertise across the IPC core business areas of this exciting specialty including: Surveillance, Education, Environmental Management, Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices, Vascular Access and the Built Environment & Healthcare Facility Design.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Your ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team in a variety of situations with both individuals and groups is imperative in this service as you are responsible for providing IPC advice, education and recommendations to clinical staff across a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Your clinical knowledge and experience in addition to diplomacy, respect and professionalism, will be key to engaging with staff and patients to ensure your success in this role.
  • Previous experience working in infection prevention and control would be an advantage although not essential as a full orientation programme and training will be provided.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
