You will need:
- To be patient focused with the ability to identify relevant patient issues and prioritise those to be addressed/ delegated/discussed in a timely manner.
- The ability to work autonomously and problem solve with colleagues, leaders, and the wider team including SMO - s, Registrars, HO - s, Planned Care team, outpatientadministration and surgical bookers to coordinate patient care.
- Effective communication with patients in person (including adults, children, and those with communication issues) and by phone.
- The flexibility to adapt to changing service needs.
- Proficient computer literacy and a strong understanding of Excel spreadsheets, word processing and basic trouble shooting of computers. Can use Outlook, and Microsoft teams. SCOPE, SIPICs, Health Connect South experience would be an advantage.
- Prior experience in the ORL H&N speciality &/ anaesthetic triaging are preferred.
You will work closely with the Long Wait Nurse Coordinator to:
- Triage and coordinate referrals and existing FSA reviews.
- Existing and newly created surgical waitlist triage to assess for Anaesthetic risks + suitability for day case and alternative locations.
- Management of Electronic Questionnaires for long wait patients with barriers to our service.
- Outsourcing/outplacing appropriate patients to private facilities.
In conjunction with the ORL Outpatient Charge Nurse Manager:
- Actively improves the efficiency of clinics and experience of patients by coordinating patient flow - directing and supervising Hospital Aids as required.
- Ensures clinic equipment and an environment facilitates patient flow.
- Ability to assist with patients who require procedural manoeuvring and good vision for microscope tasks and fine suture removal.
- Will complete ORL orientation and maintain competence in ORL acute and arranged patient care by seeking opportunities to improve knowledge particularly in infection control, wound care, otology assessment and care, altered airway management, cancer care and patient education within the ORL setting.
- Complete education required to run Nurse Led Clinics.
