Mō te tūranga - About the role:
- Accredited for twelve months of advanced training time by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM)
- Accredited for rural/regional training - is a great place to meet the ACEM rural training time requirement
- Accredited for the Paediatric Logbook component of training
- An ACEM exam preparation programme, an ACEM Examiner and a high pass rate for the College Primary and Fellowship exams
- A range of other accredited Registrar positions (including ICU, anaesthetics, and medicine) that College trainees are able to rotate into in order to fulfil the requirements of training
- Otago University offers papers that meet the criteria of the ACEM Trainee Research Requirement Coursework Pathway
- The Emergency Department sees 47,000 patients per year. Patient mix is broad and a full range of trauma, medical, surgical, paediatric and minor presentations seen on a regular basis
- Senior support is excellent, with one of the highest Consultant to Registrar ratios in the country. Registrars work on average approximately four days per week
Mōu ake - About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- a minimum of two years post-graduate and want to gain ED experience or advance a career in Emergency Medicine.
It is requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. Utu whānui - Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association and 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 17 May 2021 - 31 March 2024 (NZRDA MECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 December 2021 - 13 December 2023 (the STONZ MECA) and the salary will fall between $103,045 - $194,800 dependant on relevant experience.
