 Are you passionate about shaping operational policy that lifts regulatory performance and provides clear direction for activities undertaken on conservation land? Do you have a sharp analytical mind and a strong sense of purpose in making meaningful contributions to policy development? Join Te Papa Atawhai DOC and play a key role in shaping national regulatory processes that have a direct impact on conservation efforts across Aotearoa.

As a Regulatory Operational Policy Advisor, you'll support the design and development of regulatory policies and procedures to ensure high-quality national delivery of DOC's regulatory processes. You'll work closely with senior advisors, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to influence, develop, and communicate policies that align with DOC's goals.

 The position will be focussed on:

  • working with Senior Regulatory Operational Policy Advisors to support and shadow with their projects as well as leading smaller projects
  • drafting policy and tools for the regulatory services staff
  • collaborating with subject matter experts and permissions advisors
  • implementing and communicating changes to the wider business
  • working alongside the Statutory Support Officer to provide wrap around support to the team

  • experience in regulatory policy, law, public administration, or a related field,
  • excellent analytical and research skills with the ability to distil complex information into clear and concise recommendations,
  • the ability to think critically, anticipate challenges and propose innovative solutions,
  • a passion for making a positive impact through operational regulatory policy.
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence

 

Mō te tīma | About the team

The Policy and Regulatory Services Group provides strategic direction and thought leadership for DOC and for the conservation system.

This role is a key member of the Operational Regulatory Policy Team, which sits within DOC's Regulatory Systems Performance Team. Both teams are relatively new with a responsibility to set the direction and operational rules of the Conservation Regulatory System.
