Salary: $81,441 - $101,349

Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives NZ is looking for a fixed-term Repository Specialist to manage our archival storage in central Wellington.

You will have experience managing complex storage and building environments, managing small projects and working alongside Property and Facilities teams.

This is a fixed-term opportunity, providing cover while the incumbent is on secondment to our biggest-ever relocation project, Kia Rite.

Working at the Department of Internal Affairs, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders. Te Rua Mahara Archives New Zealand sits within Te Haumi branch, the Department's epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand.

Your key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Day to day repository management, including managing capacity and configuration with small relocation projects within the repository
  • Work closely alongside our Kia Rite archives relocation project team
  • Contribution to storage planning for archives which are not in scope to relocate to the new facility
  • Be the first line of defence for our holdings by ensuring all contractors and Property colleagues are aware of Archives' procedures and requirements
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of works within the repository both large and small
  • Collaborate with passionate people to ensure the safety and preservation of our government archival holdings
  • Work closely with our Archives NZ, National Library and wider DIA colleagues to maintain our documentary heritage

If you want a job where the work you do matters to New Zealand, we would like to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. We recognise a diverse workforce contributes to better business outcomes. We are committed to creating a workplace where all employees have equal access.
