Job Description

One of Canterbury's most popular country watering holes is on the hunt for a Restaurant Manager. They regularly have live music, concerts and hosts events such as weddings and conferences and are proud to be a weekend family destination with its huge beer garden and playground, even well behaved four legged family members are welcome. It's not unusual to serve between 700 - 800 meals between 11am - 4pm on weekends, it's a hugely popular venue.

After 3 years in the role, the current Restaurant Manager has decided to move on which has opened the door for someone new to step in and take the reins. Reporting to the Directors, you will work closely with the Functions Manager and Bar Manager to ensure the smooth running of the food and beverage operations. Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing daily operations of the restaurant whilst maintaining standards
  • Lead and motivate a team of up to 8 permanent and up to 25 casual staff
  • Recruit and train new staff and manage the performance of existing staff
  • Handle customer feedback through various channels including in person, over the phone/email and via social media platforms
  • Manage stock levels and supplier relationships
  • Ensure compliance with H & S, liquor licensing and food control plans

On offer is:
  • An hourly rate of up to $34 per hour (dependant on skills and experience)
  • A solid 45 hours a week
  • 50% all food & a free drink at the end of your shift

This is a juicy role and as such we are looking for someone with solid experience, a bubbly personality and a customer-focused mindset. To be successful you will also need the following:
  • Proven experience in a leadership role in a high volume venue (minimum 3 years)
  • Availability to work Wednesday to Sunday with evenings included
  • A valid Managers Certificate
  • Full Drivers Licence as you may be required to drive the courtesy van
  • Your own reliable transport - role is in Tai Tapu
  • NZ Residency or Citizenship - no sponsorship available
