Te tīma - The team
Our Parliamentary Security Officers are the friendly faces welcoming you onto the Parliamentary Precinct and play an integral role within Parliament. Our Security Group is collectively responsible for providing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week security services to members of Parliament, staff, contractors, stakeholders, visitors, and customers who work within and visit New Zealand's Parliament. The Security Group strive to be known for their professionalism and to make Parliament an open, accessible, efficient, safe, and secure place.
Mō te tūnga - About the role
We have four full-time permanent positions to fill, working Monday to Friday, so no weekend work! In this role, you'll be tasked with providing pro-active customer and security services to the Parliamentary Precincts, and to Members of Parliament and staff working in our communities. You will be well known for excellent communication skills and have the resilience and ability to adapt to different situations and scenarios - no two days are ever the same in this environment!
This is a physically active role that is suited to someone with sound judgement and a well-balanced approach as you will be responding to incidents, emergency situations, protests and events. This is a full-time role working Monday - Friday, 40hrs per week. You will work 8hr shifts between the hours of 7am - 11pm.

The appointing base salary for this role is $63,140 per annum (remuneration band extends beyond the appointing salary to account for tenure progression).
