Te Haeata/The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our newly established Commercial Management team within the Commercial Services unit. This role will report to the Manager – Commercial Management.

You will be a self-starter, with adaptable communication skills giving you the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders of all levels and navigate competing priorities and you'll also:

  • Have a procurement, commercial or legal background and/or qualification.
  • Have experience in procurement and commercial processes and practices (ICT procurement or commercial management is ideal but not a requirement).
  • Have experience in managing contracts, with an understanding of legal terms and conditions, risk management, and compliance requirements. The candidate should be adept at ensuring that contracts are aligned with the Ministry's objectives and provide value while mitigating potential risks.
  • Have a strong customer focus and willingness to look for solutions to problems or issues on behalf of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to being a supportive and approachable team player, where colleagues feel comfortable seeking your advice and guidance, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.

At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to strengthening people's trust in the law of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

The Commercial Services unit sits within the Corporate Services group. It provides advice and manages efficient, value for money procurement practices for the Ministry, including advising and developing the Ministry's procurement strategy and policies in line with the Government Procurement Rules.

The Commercial Management team manages most of the Ministry's contracts, including all Information Technology contracts. Our team ensures that contracts are effectively negotiated, executed, and monitored to meet the Ministry's goals. We ensure the Ministry maintains compliance with legal and policy requirements while optimising supplier relationships for cost efficiency and performance.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $97,208 and $135,539 based on skills and experience.
