Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity'
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join our Regulatory System Design group. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for delivering projects and guidance that will improve the impacts and outcomes of the land transport regulatory framework.
You will work with the team to deliver priority projects to improve and understand the outcomes of our regulatory framework. The position works collaboratively and in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our initiatives are appropriately informed and decision making is driven by evidence-based guidance.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Qualifications:
A tertiary level or professional qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Experience in a regulatory system development environment with proven knowledge of regulatory best practice principles.
- Experience with developing and delivering regulatory improvement projects.
- Experience developing operational policy, standards and guidance.
- Understanding of the effective use of risk assessment, data, empirical insights, intelligence, and evidence to inform regulatory system performance.
- Experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders.
- Experience leading and delivering consultation and engagement activities.
- Experience in analytical and conceptual thinking in a complex environment.
- Ability to think at a national and system-wide level and translate it into delivery.
- Previous experience of local and/or central government preferred.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

The Regulatory System Design group supports the regulatory land transport system by ensuring the regulatory framework (i.e., operational policy, standards, and guidance material) is clear and designed to meet the desired outcomes in the system and deliver our regulatory functions.
The Regulatory Framework Optimisation (RFO) team purpose is to deliver key future focused regulatory framework improvement projects and employ insights, data, and analysis to understand regulatory framework performance and guide risk assessment, processes, work programme, and performance. The team ensures the Regulatory System Design group has an evidence base, effective operational processes, and feedback loops in place that result in our teams being risk-based and intelligence led.
