Our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division delivers and supports the technology infrastructure and the ~180 applications that interface with the grid, facilitates grid operations and system operations, and supports our corporate processes and functions.
About the team
The IST Delivery Services team work to deliver circa $50m of technology projects per annum, employing both waterfall and agile delivery techniques. The group is responsible for the delivery and for the well-managed and appropriately resourced project delivery process, designed to ensure a consistent experience for all stakeholders. The right people and timely delivery of our work programme is essential to Whakamana I Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering our Energy Future.
The Delivery Services Business Analysis Capability team will provide a critical connection between business groups and project teams to help ensure that planned projects in the longer term and delivery projects in the shorter-term address business needs.
The Opportunity
You'll perform business analysis for varied intellectually stimulating projects and programmes and play a coaching and mentoring leadership role in maturing the business analysis practice, including advocating, and using BA principles, frameworks, techniques, and tools that will help achieve outstanding outcomes.
You'll provide direction and support and lead Associate Business Analysts and Business Analysts in problem trajectory analysis, requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, root cause analysis, design of new functionality, and product configuration.
So, what will you bring?
A relevant degree qualification and/or business analysis certification and demonstrated ability to alternate between working at a high level and in detail. You'll have experience from multiple ICT projects in:
- Requirements analysis techniques e.g., interviews, workshops, surveys, business process mapping and analysis, document analysis, story maps, user stories, use cases, data analysis, business rules definition.
- Other business analyst activities such as but not limited to problem analysis, benefits elicitation and mapping, current and future state analysis, writing development ready user stories with clear acceptance criteria, facilitating refinement sessions and user demos.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate outstanding ability to:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to plan and estimate business analysis tasks on projects.
- Collaborate on a day-to-day basis with Solution and enterprise architects, UX & service designers, software developers, and testers to help inform architectural decisions, project phasing and direction.
- Plan and complete a wide range of analysis activities as sole Business Analyst on large and complex IT projects, ideally enterprise level business analysis.
- Work in partnership with a variety of business stakeholders, to define business problems and clarify thinking to draw out key contextual information and future states to provide a robust foundation for projects.
You'll be known for your active listening and communication skills and attention to detail in all written documentation. You will have examples of influencing and advising outcomes based on evidence.
While not essential, the following experience will be highly regarded:
- Experience with data analysis
- Mentoring and coaching to grow capability
- Exposure to, or experience with, business intelligence tools and reporting
- Graphical user interface design
