NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.

While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system – government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with.  We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement.

Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

We are seeking an outstanding commercial specialist to work on a wide range of significant projects for the New Zealand Government. We’re particularly keen to recruit a specialist in the ICT and/or Social Investment sectors.

The NZGP Advisory Services group is comprised of highly skilled commercial specialists responsible for providing quality advice and support to government agencies on their significant commercial projects and work programmes.  It sometimes operates on a user pays, cost recovery basis, but also provides free advice and assistance as System Lead across government procurement.

The successful candidate will assist government agencies to plan and structure commercial projects and work programmes whilst meaningfully engaging with stakeholders. You will inject pace and commercial resources into projects of high priority and negotiate better deals to achieve higher quality commercial results. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with the Government Procurement Rules and support and develop in-house commercial capability.

Opportunities like this are rare, offering the best commercial work right at the heart of government.
