We're looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to support and enhance TNZ's reputation through transparent, creative, strategic communications.
You will report to our Communications Manager as part of a small but mighty New Zealand-based Corporate Communications team driving internal and external communications and government relations activity in New Zealand. The team works closely with TNZ teams across Aotearoa and offshore to maximise opportunities, manage risk and ensure alignment and consistency.
Here's a taste of what you will be doing:
- Strategic communications: Provide ‘best practice' comms advice to senior people and deliver a broad range of communications material for TNZ activities.
- Internal communications: Support our positive organisational culture through proactive, transparent, and timely communications and engagement. This includes engaging people in TNZ's strategic activities around the world.
- Media management: Help the team with proactive and reactive media engagement in New Zealand, and drive media coverage of TNZ's corporate activity and performance.
- Corporate channels: Letting stakeholders know about the work TNZ is doing. This will often involve translating complicated information into plain English. Includes producing content for the TNZ website, a monthly newsletter, and social channels.
What you will need | Ngā pūkenga mō tēnei tūranga
- A tertiary level qualification in communications or journalism (or relevant experience) and 5+ years in strategic communications roles across the public and private sector. You will bring commercial nous, political awareness and an understanding of the machinery of Government.
- Outstanding relationship management and interpersonal skills.
- You express yourself clearly and succinctly verbally and in writing. You have high attention to detail.
- You maintain your effectiveness while adjusting to a changing work environment and varying tasks, people,responsibilities, and priorities. You cope well with change and you're good at getting things done without having the full picture.
- A good risk radar and experience managing tricky issues and problem-solving. People trust your judgement.
- Experience within an international organisation, working alongside high-performing marketing teams, and/or an understanding of the travel or tourism sector would be useful.
