The role

We're looking for a talented, highly motivated Senior Compliance and Audit Advisor to join our fun and collaborative team in Wellington.

We can't reveal all the details of what you'll be involved in, but as a key advisor driving the agency's compliance and audit function, you will work on novel issues and play a critical role in ensuring our operations continue to be conducted to high standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide NZSIS staff with effective compliance advice to manage compliance risk
  • Assist with the annual development of an internal audit program aligned to areas of emerging risk as well as enabling regular audits to maintain compliance hygiene.
  • Lead and/or conduct audit and assurance reviews over NZSIS activities as part of the audit programme.
  • Identify new approaches to improve internal controls and compliance management.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for somebody who can hit the ground running. Is this you?

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a compliance or audit focussed role
  • Understanding of public sector management and accountability frameworks
  • Motivated and driven, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, often with urgent deadlines

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
