The Senior Contracts Relationship Management Specialist is the key connection point between NZDF and their assigned suppliers. By building strong relationships with both NZDF stakeholders and suppliers, they ensure that requirements and expectations are managed on both sides. Acting as a trusted advisor, they ensure the effective and efficient delivery of commercial value.
The Senior Contracts Relationship Management Specialist develops supplier roadmaps and based on these, strategies for how to manage individual suppliers. They support the creation of service specifications (e.g. service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs)) and ensure that supplier performance is tracked, monitored and regularly reviewed against these.
Additionally, the Senior Contracts Relationship Management Specialist records, manages and, when required, escalates risks in line with NZDF risk management frameworks.
This role is based in Wellington CBD.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience
The following skills and experiences are necessary in order to be considered for his role:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in supplier and contract management in the ICT sector.
- A sound understanding of procurement practices (experience within the Public Sector procurement environment is desirable).
- An understanding of the government rules of sourcing.
- Experience working within the public sector, especially with regard to supplier and contract management.
- Ability to deal with complex organisational issues and to apply problem solving techniques.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues and junior staff members.
- Strong business and interpersonal skills including influencing of senior stakeholders within and outside the organisation.
- Strong numeric, written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and laterally.
- Experience in team-based skills and delivery.
- Knowledge of formal project management and process improvement methodologies desirable.
- Ability to utilise web-based communication and procurement tools.

Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
