Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

This role is (permanent) based in Wellington. Reporting to the Chief of Data and Insights your focus is to collect, organise, analyse, and interpret data to provide insights about the performance of individual education institutions, the education sector, and ERO's own performance. You'll have input into developing the systems and processes we use to provide the organisation with the insights it needs, and to build strong relationships within ERO and across the education sector. You will work in a new team who are responsible for delivering data products and analysis to customers within ERO and across the education sector. We see you bringing a passion and curiosity for using data to drive insights and as a catalyst for change and improvement to the role and the team. The key focus for the next 6-12 months is to develop our new team's work programme and support the organisation to report on the government's education priorities.

We want to hear about any of the following in your cover letter and CV:

  • Tell us about your advanced technical skills using computer programming (e.g. MS Excel, R-studio, Power BI, Stata, SQL) to collect, manage, analyse, and visualise data.
  • Provide examples of how you have used data to provide insights and improve processes within an organisation, including how you worked with stakeholders to interpret and validate the results.
  • Show how you have demonstrated leadership in designing, developing and delivering a data project or analysis project. E.g., led by example, demonstrated problem solving, owned a project or piece of work, or spoken up for yourself or others.
  • Provide examples of developing processes to document datasets, including how they are to be used and accessed.
  • Where you've shown curiosity and tried new things, taken on other perspectives, challenged the norm, learned, and applied or shared your learnings.
  • Tell us about when you collaborated with others and invited feedback, spent time with diverse people and communities to broaden your views.
